Dreaming the World

by Isaac George

November 26th, 2013

I travelled to London earlier this month to attend the Gateways of the Mind conference* on consciousness, lucid dreaming, shamanism and out-of-body experiences.  The line-up of presenters was impressive, and the venue was quite impressive as well. Up until mid-October I had actually not committed to going, and only some arm-twisting by the organizers at the 11th hour convinced me to actually attend. And boy, I am ever glad I did.

The whole adventure was transformed into a pilgrimage based on intuitive trust and timing. Once I had committed to going, everything I sought to employ for my needs fell into place almost without effort.  From being offered place to stay in a private home near the venue, and acquiring very inexpensive airline and ground transportation, I watched as everything else unfolded in a ‘just as needed’ fashion, I was treated to one of the most extraordinary shamanic – style sojourns of my life.  My very first experience of London was in 1973, and although I’ve visited there since that time, none of the ones previous to this one equalled the first time…and this one was quite magical.

Lest I turn this into some kind of shamanic travelogue, I’ll get to the main point. I found something even more profoundly touching than the mere symbols in the environment that I was in alignment with my soul’s deepest desire.  I experienced a rebirth, a reconnection to that part of my being that is the most lucid, and the most loving.  This experience reconnected me with the amazing and miraculous stuff from my kundalini awakening nineteen years ago. I experienced the extraordinary “wow” of becoming a channel, even as I was going through an intense healing process. I rediscovered what is was like to dance with it all which led me to a few moments of total lucidity that I can only be describe as ‘unity’ awareness…union with God while still remaining completely human.

I also reclaimed the childlike part of me that lived very close to Nature while growing up on a farm in my youth, and those times when as an adult in which I sought the solace I needed by hugging a tree, or watching the ocean’s waves, until the heart pains were washed away in the absolute wonder of it all. I began to understand the purpose of the wilderness that I’d been wandering in for the past 10 years, exploring and questioning many of the experiences I’d been through, acquiring and weighing new information, and trying to understand what direction my work and life needed to go in.  In other words…I’d been waiting for a sign of some kind…a moment of perception and clarity that would be completely compelling and unmistakable. I wanted another ‘calling’ to my soul, beckoning me into the next adventure.  And, even though I might fear letting go of the known, it is definitely the desire for freedom and authenticity that is giving me the courage to step into who I have always been.  I was totally Isaac and also ‘the everything.’  As Ariel kept saying over and over again through me for years, “…it’s a ‘both/and’ scenario, not and ‘either/or’ one!”  You don’t get it until you GET IT!  I get it now.

Since returning home last week, I am experiencing some essential deprogramming.  Many control programs, self-judgments, spiritual rules (and human ones!), acquired or force-fed beliefs and conditioned patterns are falling away.  Yes, this is painful at times, but when one of these layers is spotted, and the tears begin to flow, the ecstasy comes in to validate and heal on an ‘as needed and just in time’ basis, just like my London journey.  Other physical symptoms like dizziness and shaking happen, and then are replaced by a new sense of solidity. The most pronounced sensation is that of an open and curious heart…eager to love and to also just plain ‘be’.  Ariel called it “effortless efforting.” I like that…and it is a good reminder to approach the most challenging tasks with an attitude of playfulness, or at least complete attentiveness. The trick is to be deeply aware as much as possible without becoming transpersonal or detached from the moment.

So many of those I encounter, whether they be clients, fellow seekers, or just regular folks in my daily life, are looking for something unique, something that can lift the tension, anxiety, fear or sense of loneliness that seems to be their constant companion.  Sometimes it is lovely to read the accounts of some people who are seemingly so plugged into the flow of magic, and  that their lives are working so well. Unfortunately, we compare our experience with theirs, and think we’ve somehow not studied enough, cleared enough karma, gotten rid of enough ego, prayed enough, meditated enough, done enough yoga, altered our diet enough, or not attended the right workshops or read the right books, or found the right spiritual teacher, shaman or guru…yet. Endless, this self-improvement gig, isn’t it?  When does the striving stop? When we become finders instead of seekers?

Actually, this entire perspective of comparing our consciousness with others is just another adopted system that is controlling our minds, and preventing authentic experience from entering in naturally. It’s just that it seems so damn hard to not compare ourselves to someone else, or to a particular philosophy, spiritual or metaphysical system.  We want the Big Juice, the feel-good formula that all these things promise, but they only seem to deliver in short bursts or not at all.  I used to believe in “ascension or bust”, but not any longer. I can’t afford the cost, the toll it takes on my humanity and my soul.

Our thoughts are not a problem. We have been told our thoughts or the process of thinking is a spiritual problem which keeps us separate from God. Without our minds we would be unable to function in this world, and many of the skills we take for granted would be unavailable to us. Our minds are part of us.

Our bodies are not a problem. We’ve accepted how religions have demonized our bodies, creating shame, guilt and self-hatred and an impediment to spiritual growth. A house divided against itself cannot stand.

Our passions and feelings are not the problem.  Repression, sublimation or detaching from our deep feelings, desires and passion is a bigger problem that leads to distorted perceptions and behaviours.

Our ego is not our enemy. It is the vehicle through which Life discovers and expresses unique individuation as you, me, and everything else too.

Even certain negative emotions can bring us into awareness and action. Anger, frustration, lust, or even hatred, when experienced while remaining aware and grounded, may actually create solutions. For example, when your boundaries have been violated, anger can be the means to defend yourself. This doesn’t have to supersede your ability to love, or the perception of Love. By establishing healthy boundaries, you may actually call that an act of love…towards self and towards the one pushing your buttons.  None of these emotions can make you a hateful person, unless you become totally lost in it. Exploring our shadow side and loving it can integrate and empower you towards wholeness and appropriate action.

Even pleasure is not a problem. It is our yearning for touch that connects us to the manifested spiritual energy all around us…especially the miracle of our own bodies. There is infinite healing and tenderness when we caress the face of a lover, or stroke a beloved pet, or receive a foot rub, enjoy a favourite food, or indulge in sex without shame or reserve. Nature doesn’t blush. But our species has learned to do that through eons of hurt and shame… usually from religious or spiritual ‘authorities’. It is through touch that our hearts realize the reality of love, comfort and belonging in the manifest world.

Even as my heart and soul revel in this experience of opening and expansion, I am still aware that all is not harmonious or healthy on our planet, our Mother.  All that I’ve been exploring during the past ten years has not been made redundant in the light of my deeper knowing. If anything, now it is balanced and complementary. As Isaac, I am both/and a human and part of the great ocean of Spirit/Consciousness/God.  I am part of this Mother Earth, the Sun, the core of our Galaxy, while at the same time I am the Great Mystery. We are all that…and probably more. To not lose our sense of awe about the nature of existence while staying completely human is what Life is. We can either stay unconscious in our human experience, or we can awaken to our deeper nature without trying to isolate ourselves from our humanity.  Remember: Both/And. Not Either/Or.

There are people and forces in this world who are actively striving to prevent the mass awakening of Consciousness, this reconnection to the original human being, or as the Gnostics identified it – Anthropos. No matter how you might try to rationalize it, since the beginnings of the New Age movement and what I will term dis-identification with the world of human feelings and realities, the situation has grown progressively precarious and dangerous.  Anyone who looks around at what is happening today, right now, and calls it okay is in serious denial, or worse.  We cannot escape our responsibility to actually stand up for justice, fairness, and the rights of all living beings here, and to stand against the predatory and psychopathic behaviours that have manifested in our political, corporate, religious and social institutions. If we are to accept the challenge of these times, then we are all going to have to redefine our spiritual perceptions. Our survival, the survival of many species, and even the survival of Gaia(Earth) is hanging in the balance. That is exactly why we are here and in this Now.  Gaia has awakened, and we as Her children are awakening with her. This awakening is happening from the Galactic Core outward into the spiral arms, where we are.

One thing’s for sure, there isn’t going to be any rescue from space or from other dimensions. Recently the astrologer Tom Lescher made a quip worth sharing; “We’re descended masters!”  Turns the whole paradigm on its head, but I wouldn’t get too carried away with the idea. As one of my favourite authors, Tom Robbins, once wrote, “be your own UFO, rescue yourself.”  We demonstrate our true mastery by loving our wholeness.

What will the best that is in us do? What will become of us? What’s going to happen next? Frankly, even though I study astrology and prophecy, I just don’t know. That’s the best part…I don’t have a clue. If we really knew, would there even be an effort to get out of bed tomorrow morning?  That is also part of the awe I feel at this moment…it’s like approaching the first hill on a roller coaster. “Yikes” and “Yippee” all rolled into One!

What do you or I want next? Will this or that happen…or not happen? I…don’t…have…any…idea.  Maybe that’s okay. I can certainly desire and intend and will for my desires to become reality. This does work, but there’s also a better way that allows for the magic and miracles to flow into us and through us. It’s called trust. Desire to your heart’s content, then let go and see what happens with it. Another way to use will and intention without trying to bend material reality to your bidding is to play with lucid dreaming . I’m no expert on this, but there’s a wealth of knowledge already available to discover more about how this technique can strongly influence your daily experience in a positive way.

The bottom line is that the best in us is our humanity and what it connects us to. We’re warm and loving, a bit crazy and neurotic. We’re scared and we’re capable of amazing and courageous things. We are a pile of paradoxes…which is just as it should be, because that’s the way it is. We’d do well to stop resisting ourselves!

When we embrace all of ourselves, we begin to touch the most profound secrets of our deep Nature…the intangible thing that connects us all. We realize it when we love another for no other reason other than because we do…and there’s no explanation for it. We realize it when we spontaneously love our pets or children, Nature, or even our food and creature comforts. We enter into love whenever we cross the line and demand our freedom, or defend the right of another soul to be free. We are Love when we embrace and express the best in us.

That best is everything that you are, here and now.  For me, perhaps that’s just perfect.

With gratitude,
Isaac

The Storm before the Calm

bottle_lightningCosmic Weather Update
October 27th, 2013

“The Storm before the Calm”
By Isaac George

Boo! Happy Halloween, Trick or Treat, and here we go again…

The Days of the Dead are approaching, otherwise known as All Hallows Eve or the ancient pagan holy-day of Samhain. Dressing up in costume has been a universal part of celebrating or observing the waning middle days of the autumn, halfway between the September Equinox and the Winter Solstice. In Mexico and most of Latin America, the costumes are homages to the dead and dearly departed. Skeletal and ghostly visages, tattered clothing is accompanied by feasting and celebrating the freedom of the dead. In North America and parts of Europe, there is a nod to the ancient ways when children and some adults dress up as spooks, vampires, werewolves, and other dreaded icons of superstition and the netherworlds.

However, for some time the masks have come represent popular (or unpopular) political figures, celebrities, cartoon characters or movie heroes. The mask that has become almost universal during the past few years is the visage of the movie and comic book character “V”, a persona which has been adopted by freedom movements globally as a symbol of resistance and revolution. The anniversary for the original anarchist that inspired the book and film “V for Vendetta” is based on also fast approaches…the 5th of November:  Guy Fawkes Day, which is celebrated only in the U.K.

We may be going to parties, playing dress up or applying makeup as a way to disguise our real face, but no matter whether we are young or old, the fun is found in becoming temporarily anonymous…secret, clandestine. Then, we may attempt to be or do what we dare not in ‘real’ life. We escape the familiar and drift into the macabre. The irony here is that in that we are most aware of how little anonymity we still retain in our super-technological surveillance and social networking culture. Perhaps Halloween is becoming one of the last opportunities we have to become anonymous on a temporary basis.

The astrological weather for the next month is mixed and volatile. “Expect the unexpected” is the motto for November, making prediction and prognosticating a risky proposition. So, on to the forecast and analysis.

Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio – October 21st

We’ve been under this influence for about a week now, and what makes this one Mercury Retro unusual is that it is in Scorpio, where Saturn is at the moment.  There have been a number of excellent posts and analysis about this transit already, so I’m not going to wax further on it, except to mention that it is occurring at the same time as a major tension point in early November, followed by a Solar Eclipse. This combination might cause some folks to feel quite frustrated in trying to get new projects moving forward, as the big outer planets Saturn, Uranus and Pluto command center stage. Mercury will retrograde towards Saturn, where they’ll meet at the 13th Degree of Scorpio on October 29th, just before the eve of the Days of the Dead (October 30th-November 1st).  Try not to get too impatient as these two have a conversation that hones in on Scorpionic themes: jealousy, having or keeping secrets – or the sudden revealing of secrets (“Hello Angela Merkel…you’ve been spied on for a decade!”) unrequited hopes, dreams, desires and passions, and revenge (ouch…that hurt!).  Part of Saturn in Scorpio is the restructuring and revealing of dirty little secrets, regardless if they are sexual, like the Jimmy Saville or Catholic paedophilia scandals. Or be they political, like the NSA and U.K. GCHQ spying scandals (along with the damage control around them). With Mercury retrograde, this is also an excellent time to dig deeply into one’s beliefs and acquired conditioning, especially as regards human intimate communications and relating, and also around one’s deeply held fears or feelings of inadequacy.  What is really yours, versus what you took on board from all the people or concepts you’ve been exposed to since birth?

The Main Event: 4th Uranus Square Pluto – November 1st

“Watch yourself. This place can be pretty rough.” – Obi Wan Kenobi, Star Wars Episode 4

As I’ve been observing what is showing up on many different newsfeeds over the past two weeks, I am getting that this date may loom larger in our memories than anticipated. It is another step up in intensity, preparing us for the next one in April 2014, which is ostensibly the peak of the what began in June of 2012. This time Uranus is retrograde in Aries, whereas Pluto is gaining forward momentum in Capricorn. Pluto is now wielding the advantage, and although there have been more significant blows to the old guard power structures that are held within the individual and collective psyche, this time period may manifest as a counterpunch to that, invoking an ‘Empire Strikes Back’ theme.

The first thing I watch is what’s happening in Nature, both terrestrial and celestial. Then, in no particular order, what’s happening in my energy fields, awareness, and especially my body.  Next up is what is playing out in the political, financial, and religious arenas, followed by whatever is trending on alternative websites (re: spiritual concepts, conspiracy, etc.) and social media. I always pay attention to what other astrologers are writing about too.

We all have our filters operating, and this is why Uranus is so fascinating to me energetically and archetypally. It always seems to trash our expectations and our perceptions. And even though Pluto’s persona as Death allows it to roam mostly undetected through human activity, it is the Trump card in all endeavors.  Uranus says “all things must change” and Pluto adds, “All things must pass.”  Interesting that Miley Cyrus is riding high on the popularity of a hit song entitled ‘Wrecking Ball’, as this perfectly expresses the tension between Uranus and Pluto at this time.

Because Uranus is the energy of surprise, I reiterate that whatever I may prognosticate here is subject to change without notice. Reader beware!  So, to illustrate the pattern, here are some items of interest to illustrate the upcoming showdown…number 4 in this gunslinger episode of a celestial ‘High Noon’

·         The U.S. budget – governmental shutdown over Obamacare (A.C.A. – Affordable Care Act)

and http://uk.reuters.com/article/2013/10/10/uk-sse-prices-idUKBRE99904O20131010

These are just a few examples of the many hot items in circulation in the last four weeks.

Essentially, since this transit began it has been mostly about awakening the majority of humanity that has been conditioned and repressed, but it is also unhinging some of the doors of belief in those of us that consider ourselves already with the program. For most human beings, there hasn’t seemed to be any other alternative than to get along in the system as best as one could, or resort to armed and violent resistance. Even those options are now dwindling, for resistance to change is not an option, and armed insurrection against heavily armed ruling elite won’t work either.

Since this transit occurs under the Mercury Retrograde, I feel that each one of us is being called to examine those beliefs that we have accepted about our being powerless to change anything, or that we even have a right to change anything or perhaps everything.  With Uranus also in retrograde motion, rash or sudden moves without examination of the consequences is probably to be discouraged. Uranus goes stationary direct on Dec.18th. Things may be very interesting this coming Christmas season, as from this point forward we will be more inclined to act rather than continue inner work or outer discussions.

Solar Eclipse – November 3rd

Nov 3 Solar Eclipse. This is one interesting chart. Uranus and Pluto are still in tight square. Saturn, Sun and Moon all conjunct around 11 degrees of Scorpio, with Mercury and the North Node not far behind at 7 degrees of Scorpio. There’s a Grand Trine between Mars in Virgo, Pluto in Capricorn, and the South Node in Taurus…and earthly focus.  Meanwhile Chiron is in an awkward relationship to the Mercury/North Node conjunction, trying to apply a healing and soothing balm to the situation, but not quite sure where to place the ointment.  Chiron also is in trine (easy flow) to the Sun-Moon Eclipse, and adds a patina of grace to the stresses invoked by eclipses. The ancients viewed solar eclipses as mostly bad news…and for good reason. Natural disasters are almost always a feature of eclipses, especially solar ones. The indigenous peoples thought that the Moon was stealing the life-giving powers of the Sun, and from a metaphysical perspective, this it pretty accurate. There is a potential here for violent reactions to calls for more change, liberty, freedom or justice. The powers in charge (Pluto in Capricorn) clamping down on the opposition (the 99%), or marginalizing action through intimidation, more taxes, hidden costs, or punitive fines and fees. Keep everyone in survivalist mode, and they’re easier to govern.

Rather than spin your wheels over the local, regional or world situation, cultivate a deeper awareness of your personal desires and see how they might actually contribute to altering the course of consciousness on a larger scale. Meditate locally, manifest locally and globally. Opting out of the system, in whatever way and in small chunks at a time, while at the same time cultivating the idea of shared or cooperative living arrangements, may be the next intuitive strategy. Smaller is better, mobility over static security. Yoga stretches for the mind, heart and soul, not just the body.

In summary, we are here living in these times to midwife this planet and our human brothers and sisters out of a no-win predicament. There is no such thing as infinite growth, at least economically or financially. Religions need to fall apart, even the New Age religion, if we are to free our dogmas up enough to receive the clarity we will require to move out of our self-destructive tendencies. As Gaia goes, so do we, so we are being asked to cultivate our symbiotic relationship with Nature and the planet more and more consciously. Starting with a sense of gratitude is an excellent practice to employ.

What a time to be alive!

Until the next update, journey well.

Peace,
Isaac

The Touch of Grace

healing-touch-of-jesusBy Isaac George

October 26th, 2013

Autumn is arriving in the Northern Hemisphere. Wet leaves are falling here in Ireland, and the smell of decaying vegetation and the wan light that filters through the clouds all confirm it. Halloween is just around the corner, also known as Hallowmas, and if you live in certain Latin countries, it is time for the three day celebration of the ‘Day of the Dead’.  Time to dig the woolly jumpers and Wellington boots out of the trunks or closets, and make sure our heating systems and chimney flues are ready. After all, to quote a now popular meme, “…winter is coming.”

Another response to the cool and damper conditions is the sense of needing to feel cosy and warm, so if we are in a relationship, the desire for closeness is accentuated.  Besides the obvious thermal advantages, it is the feeling of connection and protection that we crave. When we’re drawn closer to others of our own kind, whether it is one person or an extended family, everything can feel brighter and better. Even the growing number of people who prefer the single life and do not have a live-in companion will also feel this, and I am sure that they will seek to engage in more social activities, and take advantage of any opportunity to snuggle up with someone. Cuddle parties are becoming more popular. Not surprising…and no matter which hemisphere on Mother Earth you reside in, there’s more than just a change of the seasons behind it.

Human beings are highly social creatures, and even though the sense of being an individual has been part of the development of the human experience for thousands of years, in our pre-conscious state that existed long before the invention of agriculture, economies, city states, countries and nations, we were pretty much living symbiotically with the natural surroundings and within the context of a clan or tribal community.  Our sense of ‘self’ was inexorably connected to the sense of ‘us’, and we shared a mutual concern for food, shelter, health, companionship and safety in uncertain conditions. Since the advent of our brief sojourn into an industrial-technological society, the rise of individualism has given way to an artificial tribal identity via the global communications network. Corporate identities carry more weight in our consciousness than thinking that we are related to flesh and blood counterparts. This artificial sense of ‘us’ is replicated continually in social media, sports and entertainment archetypes (reality television shows, major sports teams, serialized dramas, etc.), and is constantly spun by politicians to reinforce and intellectual and emotional dominance nationally, regionally and even globally (i.e. ‘…a coalition of civilized nations’)

However we view our virtual interconnectedness, we still are denied one thing through our electronic mediums. The innate human need to give and receive touch remains an elusive factor in cyberspace, and in fact, it will never be simulated there successfully.  Even if it is technologically feasible to create the simulation of kinetic contact, there is no circuit or programming that can replicate the consciousness that is behind the touch. This power of tactile communication is something our species is now yearning for, and indeed, if we are to survive as a species, we must satisfy in some way. We’ve been starving for it, while wondering through the digital desert landscape.

The growing popularity of tantric workshops, massage and somatic therapies, and the relative newcomer on the scene – the cuddle party, is evidence of how many are seeking to re-establish the neural connections that respond to touch. I first experienced non-demanding touch while attending a weekend workshop called ‘Naka Ima, which translated from Japanese means “inside the now.”  All of the support staff cuddled with the attendees almost all weekend.  It was incredibly supportive when we were going through our rough bits.

There are many kinds of touch, and many kinds of physical manipulation, that can offer us a sense of connection or even provide healing from mental, emotional or physical traumas. Some may feel that touch cannot do what it’s being advertised to do, that is, replace traditional therapies or reinforce the standard societal bonding systems. Touch is discouraged in the clinical environment to avoid the possibility of transference of affections from a client to the therapist. Incidental touch, touch that is not part of a typical routine in the course of a therapeutic massage is routinely discouraged, for much the same reasons, though I feel it is more a part of the social taboos we’ve erected to respect boundaries. After I moved to Scotland, I discovered the ‘towel dance’ in which the massage practitioner was constantly readjusting and repositioning the towels covering parts of the body not being massaged.  Not wanting to see too much flesh, and be tempted by it, was probably the rationale. This kind of massage was, as you can imagine, not as enjoyable as what I was used to in the more laid-back environs of Eugene, Oregon.

Out of our five physical senses, the sense of touch possesses some unique characteristics. The many reported and purported cases of spontaneous healing conferred from human being to another usually happened through the medium of touch. Religious and spiritual ceremonies and initiations almost always involve touch at some point in the process. This includes Reiki initiations, baptisms, the gifting of Shaktipat, and other forms of activating an aspirant’s inner spiritual awakening.  Touch combined with an understanding of energy and sensitivity, and administered with love, can literally erase many traumas, especially those traumas that remain from sexual abuse.

In the realm of sacred (conscious) sexuality, of which Tantra is but a part, the power of touch to open and heal a human being from the main conditioned responses that have been learned through shame, guilt and judgment. Some of the forms that have come forward for dealing with these deeply held patterns are designed to heal people of ‘genital armoring’, which prevents someone from freely expressing and enjoying their natural sexuality. Most of these forms focus on finding the resistance or pain, and working with that to help the individual release the blockages. However, my own personal experience has shown me that nurturing touch, touch that goes slowly, gently and lovingly, not only removes the physical and emotional blockages, but also dissolves the charge on the original wound. The power of touch is discovered in how much heart and presence you can express through it. The ability to heal is inherently in the individual seeking healing…the touch of grace signals the person seeking wholeness to allow themselves to let go…to trust in Life once again.

It will be risky, and it will take some measure of courage, but to reacquaint ourselves with the depth of our being – and everyone else’s beingness, we must become more attuned to touch as a vehicle of awakening and transformation.  Body-centered therapies and practices usually encourage the individual to focus on what one does and experiences within our own body and space, or as something you only ‘get’ from another. To feel interactive touch, it is necessary to fully receive with the need to give, and to fully give without the need to receive. We are probably more habitually comfortable with giving than receiving, so I will recommend focusing on the receiving first, until you don’t feel resistance or the compulsion to ‘give something in return.’ It’s not easy!

If you are wondering how going for touch in a more proactive and intimate way will begin to have positive effects on your life, and possibly everyone else’s life, then all I can say to that is “what do we have to lose?” If you’re afraid you might lose your sense of individuality, well, that can’t really happen. Besides, how most Westerners have been conducting themselves for a few millennia hasn’t really contributed much to engendering more trust towards each other, so it may be time to add loving and graceful touch so that we may actually recreate the experience of egalitarian interdependence that our primordial ancestors enjoyed.

We aren’t really individuals, for we haven’t fully individuated yet. That is to say, we are not yet fully knowing who we are and expressing it without censorship or judgment. To be fully individual is to be one with all of Life…naturally. This is true enlightenment, for it doesn’t make value judgments about the body or the consciousness that creates and maintains it. It sees that they are completely the same thing. This is what we learn through the magic of touch, for it ends our false perception of separation and isolation, of being an ‘I’ in the midst of ‘they’.

The grace of touch can create bonding without bondage, unity without destroying the experience of the Self, and cooperation instead of competition.  Sharing becomes innately more natural and sensible when we lose the idea that we might lose something of our integrity through when we feel drawn to wanting to touch someone who is in pain, or someone who longs to know that they are loved and not cast adrift and alone in the world.  Touch heals. Touch helps us regain our humanity, which in turn opens us to the touch of something invisible in our hearts.

Sexuality is an inherent part of our spiritual homecoming, and I don’t mean nicey-nicey, hearts and flowers romance.  Connecting with our earthiness, with the Earth herself, will transform our biology and bring it back in harmony with Nature and the Cosmos.  In the last issue, in my essay “The Longest War on Earth”, I encouraged readers to get the book “Sex at Dawn” by Christopher Ryan Ph.D. and Cacilda Jethá, MD.  The title is a play on words, but the content, and our understanding and embracing of it, may just be essential to our survival as a species. Sharing, egalitarianism, and non-possessive intimate relationships existed in the primordial utopia that came before the Earth cataclysms of 12,000 years ago, which propelled us out of foraging societies, and into the invention or agriculture, hoarding, scarcity, competition, patriarchy, war, disease and death.  Such is progress.

The roots of this are much, much older, but suffice it to say that there was one thing that these cultures understood:  the chances for surviving and thriving were enhanced because of mutual sharing and cooperation. This also included touch and sexuality.  After finishing the book, I now recognize why I had such a difficult time acclimating back into human society in 2003 after spending  three weeks of deep communion with the dolphins (and the wild environment ) of the Big Island of Hawaii. The abrasiveness of that contact after living ‘in the raw’ during that time was illuminating…and extremely difficult.

Humanity will not solve all of its problems and challenges just by going to a cuddle party. But for those brief moments that you and the person you are cuddling with experience, you will cease feeling alone, separate, isolated.  As you focus on the pleasure of being embraced and embracing, just imagine yourself as this Earth. The Earth holds us all in her embrace in each moment we are drawing breath, and shares everything it offers without hesitation. If we are the children of a loving Earth and a Benevolent Source Consciousness, then we cannot lose anything by opening to touch, except our fear and loneliness.

As we travel through this era of an ever-changing and uncertain world, the encouragement to ‘love one another’ will take on a deeper significance. Perhaps the sheer desire for connection, companionship, and touch will transcend the realm of a need born out of fear, to a fulfilment born out of compassion and the sure knowing that we are all that we have.  Then, the touch of grace may just inspire us to see the truth of our predicament, and open to channel something through that propels back into the Garden…back to innocence. It won’t happen without work, but sure as heck won’t happen without play and trust.

Enough with the sad stories…let’s create a new script. Go gracefully…and touch with love.

Peace,
Isaac

The In Between

“Many paths look to negate the ego, or even to negate the possibility of a personal relationship with the Divine in you.  It’s all heady stuff about non-dualism and dropping illusions and so forth. The other paths may recommend renunciation, or celibacy, or ‘creating your own reality’, but there is no greater path than the Path of Love.” – Archangel Ariel

Security is an inside job.

In uncertain times all beliefs are challenged, all positions and opinions are buffeted and twisted.  The need for security, or surety, is an innate human propensity, one that you have inherited from your ancestors. It’s in your genetic code, and in your psyche. Perhaps these unconscious fears were from your cave-dwelling ancestors. When the genus ‘homo sapiens’ first appeared in Earth’s history, the planet was indeed a hostile environment.  Predators, geological upheavals and the daily struggle for survival dominated the mind and emotions. There was no ‘leisure time’ to speak of.  It is worth mentioning that ‘homo sapiens’ is but one manifestation of what you term ‘human being’. There were other civilizations that predated this relatively new ‘parent’ of modern humanity, but all records of them have long since become submerged in the ravages of time. The seed for what you’ve known as the frontal cortex in your brain was implanted as a foil to the older, more primal, reptilian brain that was inherited. Human anthropologists and geneticists labelled the primal brain the ‘reptilian brain’, even while maintaining that humankind’s earliest ancestors descended from the ape-like primates of those times. This inconsistency is quite obvious, but has never been questioned. The entire history of the human race is in your physical DNA, but mostly resides in the so-called ‘dormant’ genomes that were once called ‘junk’. This is the true meaning of ‘living library’ first discussed by the Pleiadians in the 1990’s.

Remember this – there are 60 billion base pairs in the entire human genetic code, but most people are hard-wired to utilize only 2-3% of that staggering amount. Even so, there are more neural connections in that 2-3% than in all of the objects in the known Universe!  One should speculate as to why the other 97% or so is dormant, and currently off-line. It must also be revealed that in order to regain full use of all of your DNA, you would have to have much more than 12 strands reactivated. That mathematical inconsistency is also worth questioning.

However, as interesting as it is to discuss genetics, or distant times in the cosmology of the Earth and the human family, what is of primary importance to you is your feeling at this moment of your journey.  “How do you feel” is another way of saying “How are you?”  Usually, the response is “fine”, a word charged with duplicity. So, how are you really feeling?  Can you take a deep breath, right now, and ask yourself “How am I?”, and then be honest with yourself? Try it right now, or take a time out to try it later on in your day. Write down your feelings in an uncensored way, and then read them and see how you feel about what you’ve written. Avoid judging your feelings…honour them as real instead. Self-acceptance is an acquired art, and takes practice to cultivate it. Begin now, and it will become second nature quickly.

If you discover that you are feeling peaceful and undivided, then you have discovered some of the extraordinary and essential secrets of living authentically. The process of realizing this experience is easier than you might think. The first part is the secret of self-acceptance. You are who you are at this moment – perceived flaws and faults included. Rather than berate what you haven’t dealt with, relax into it as part of the totality of you. As others have endorsed, “love the wholeness of your being.”

Next up is self-care. Can you look after yourself? Can you cook for yourself, and clean up after. Have you lived on your own, and ordered your life the way you like it? Do you make time for your creative interests, or to just be with yourself in solitude? Can you actually tolerate aloneness and silence, or do you fill things up with noise and action?

Cultivate the primary relationship, which is to know thyself. Complete acceptance of who and what you are is the starting point. Once that is committed to, the Universe will harmonize all of your other relationships in balance to that commitment.  So many people these days are over-complicating their lives, or allowing their lives to become complicated by others. Is this a sane way to live? Perhaps not. Everyone has responsibilities to others, agreements and so forth. However, if they supersede your commitment to your dreams, and your ability to care for yourself, then you are courting self-betrayal. Relegating yourself to the bottom of your ‘to do’ list perpetuates a pattern of co-dependency and unhappiness that permeates into the collective consciousness. When everyone consensually and collectively agrees that life is struggle and suffering, is it any surprise that what manifests is exactly that?

Here’s an experiment. Try to look at yourself in the mirror, and ask your reflection to show you God.

What happened?  Are you grinning, smiling, or are you choking back tears? Or, are you bored?

Who made you? What is this thing called ‘me’ and what is the ego? Where did you come from, why are you here, and where are you going? Go ahead, try asking your reflection all of these timeless questions.  You will become aware of some new perspectives, this we can guarantee you.

You see, there is either all of you, or nothing.  Who is staring back out of the mirror? Spirit. Who? You. Who? My ego. Who? My divinity. Who? My mother, my father and all who came before me.

Really? That’s interesting. Already you are part of all of the stories that have ever been, or ever will be. But the stories do not tell all the truth of who you are. Life is not contained by anything, yet is everything. It is not visible, and everywhere visible. It is not alive and is Life itself. Spirit, God, Source, Father-Mother, Cosmic Intelligence, The One, Presence are just labels to describe the indescribable.

What you are looking for, in everything inside and outside, is a feeling…a feeling that holds deep meaning. A meaning that answers all of the questions you asked in front of the mirror. That feeling is the thing that the addict looks for as much as the mystic does. That feeling says ‘love and acceptance’ like nothing else can. You can look in so many places for that feeling, and sometimes it reveals itself as an experience. In the mystery of love at first sight it may be revealed. In the mystery of emptiness after a long grieving for the loss of someone or something it may be revealed. In a moment of dire crisis it may be revealed. I tell you, when you can look at those dishes you’re washing, and a tiny soap bubble captures your imagination, just because of the way the light plays off of it and turns into a spectrum of colour, even in that bubble it may be revealed. That is the feeling that is in the Mystery. No amount of spiritual practice or teaching can prepare you better for that feeling than the act of letting go.

It is the ultimate letting go of everything you are, so you can gain all of who you are. It happens like flashes of lightning. One moment is transcendent and ethereal…the next moment you’re washing the dishes. The two are connected, but your inherited programs jump in and make a story about it. Separation and unity is a dance, not a problem.

The ego has been made into a problem, by classical religions, by mystical schools, by Eastern philosophies, and by New Age gurus. The ego has been a necessary creation of Consciousness in order to create and experience dimensions, universes, and worlds at the objective level. The ego cannot exist or evolve independently of Consciousness, and yet, even now, in contemporary psychology and spirituality, it is the enemy of Consciousness – it is the Fallen Angel.

All truth exists in the ‘in-between’ of between Oneness and duality. In Gnostic systems it is referred to as the ‘nous’, the place of the pure imaginal realm where the gem is, the pearl of great value. This is the dwelling place of Anthropos – the full and complete human being. You are each in possession of this quality which endows you with the natural ability to ‘be with’ whatever you love. You literally become what you love!

We tell you truthfully, there is no Oneness without Duality, there is no Law of Attraction without a Law of Repulsion, and there is no non-duality without duality. Set aside trying to be so intellectually spiritual, declaring that you will only settle for Oneness, and that is that, and you may actually experience something visceral and real, and while you’re still in that body as well!  Escape and progress are not the best of friends, and if your spiritual quest is to end separation by force of spiritual rules, practices and dogma, you’ll end up feeling miserable.  There may be temporary highs, like after a workshop or retreat. Then, off to work on Monday morning, and the car in front of you cuts you off. Now is when the lessons of the mirror work would serve you best. “There goes Spirit, cutting me off again”, you might say, laughing at yourself and the other person’s inconsiderate and unconscious driving skills.

It appears that non-dualism has a bone to pick with Satan, ahem, the ego. If the non-dualists were really into Oneness, discussions of ego and separateness wouldn’t even be on the menu.  No, not the case…it’s ego this, ego that, and pretty soon the ancient enemy is drawn and quartered before everyone’s eyes. This creates more suspicion of one’s own thoughts and feelings, creating more and more dysfunction and worry. If you are looking for security in Oneness, then you are still a house divided against itself. Security is only found when letting go of needing security, or even needing Oneness…or needing love. Merely paying close attention to your feelings and things around you has the curious effect of connecting you with Spirit and with whatever is happening in the moment, and experiencing that they are one and different – at the same time!  Your shoulders drop, your breathing slows, even time seems to stand still. You are in the in-between…feeling the unrelenting love and acceptance of you from and with Spirit, and as Spirit too. There is object and subject, and neither. There are no words, only pure feeling that contains the meaning of everything. There is no nothingness, there is only the ‘everything’ in perfect balance…inside of you!

For the ultimate in personal security, we recommend letting go. Meditation is one form to use. Entheogenic plants (ayahuasca, etc.) is another. Breathwork, yoga, sexual activity, drumming and dance, art and music immersion…each form is a potential stargate into the In-Between. Some call this the Void or Abyss, but this Void is not the empty or sterile place, not a place of no-thing. It is rich with awareness and feeling. Some call it Presence…we know it is infinite Love. Having a personal relationship with Life comes by feeling it. Relating transpersonally to these experiences is all well and good, but do not elevate one type of experience or perspective over another and call it a superior truth. Consider that both perspectives and experiences are valid in their own right. Real ‘letting go’ means letting all of it go…the personal and transpersonal, and then riding in the in-between.

Now would be a good time to begin to make friends with every facet of your Being…including good old ego.  Ego, when no longer terrified of judgment and eradication, can be quite helpful. It governs your time-keeping essentials, like catching a plane on time.  Yes, some equate the Mind and Ego, but the ego is more like an App that the Mind uses.

Best to not make your Mind an enemy either. It is Divine Intelligence manifesting in important ways…like regulating your heart rate, building cells, and flushing waste products from your body.

Ascension isn’t about getting out of here, it’s about becoming entirely present here! In the past we’ve described the phenomena of ascension experiences and traits as a roadmap of Consciousness unfolding. As a model of Consciousness, it’s served pretty well.  Letting go of models frees things up for novelty and moving into uncharted territory. Spirit loves uncharted regions…it invented them.

Imagine yourself sitting on a lawn on a summer’s afternoon. Take a moment to examine the activity going on between the blades of grass. Allow yourself to become enchanted by the tiniest of insects or an earthworm, as it busies itself with whatever Spirit is doing as the bug or the worm. Remember how fascinated you were when you were a child? Adopt that same way of ‘seeing’, and let go of everything else. Let go of needing to know, needing to evolve, needing to stay safe and secure. Observe the daisies and dandelions, how they do not struggle or stress out…about anything. There is an innate and loving Intention within even the most insignificant pebble, or even a decaying plant. This is the unassailable Truth of Life. It cannot be destroyed, it cannot be created. It just Is, and it always Was, and it Will Always Be. Just like you. Just like us. Here, in the in-between.

Blessings on your Journey,
-Ariel

Commentary by Isaac –

This transmission meant a great deal to me, as it brought back the feeling of those profound moments of ultimate clarity, or unity consciousness that I have experienced at times throughout my life, especially during and after my kundalini awakening in the mid-1990’s.  One of them simply happened while having a shower…in an unguarded moment wherein I let go, without realizing I was doing so. I was swept into the Immanence of Life, and surrounded in an astonishing aura of love. Lasting only 15 seconds or so, the ‘Voice’ inside the moment described how it occupied all forms and phenomenal objects…the water droplets in the shower, the shoes I wore, the car I drove, the food I ate.  I felt safe, I felt ‘seen’, and through it I felt deeply humbled even as I felt myself to be spread across the Cosmos and everywhere at once. I still marvel at how unconcerned I was…nothing mattered except what was occurring. I feel that is what Ariel is trying to impart here…how it is in letting go into the simplest and seemingly most mundane objects or tasks, that we may touch the face of the Eternal.

Found this in the Gnostic Gospel of Mary Magdalene.  Seems a perfect quote to end with…

“. . . Will matter then be destroyed or not?

22) The Savior said, All nature, all formations, all creatures exist in and with one another, and they will be resolved again into their own roots.

23) For the nature of matter is resolved into the roots of its own nature alone.

24) He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Graceful Surrender

Evie's Surrender - V for Vendetta

Evie’s Surrender – V for Vendetta

As I started my meditation the other morning I was having difficulty in focusing on my breath and moving past the inner noise of thoughts and the general haze of having just woken up.  As I slowly deepened my breathing I became aware of the tensions in my body, especially in my shoulders and neck. Noticing my burdens, and suddenly feeling a sense of responsibility for so much that I needed to do, wanted to do or hadn’t done, I realized that I had lately become quite strongly identified with not only my own personal processes, but also with the undercurrent of feelings of millions of other people on this planet at this time.  Suddenly I was in overwhelm… trapped and fearful.  Breathe again…more deeply this time.  I started to pray.

In my prayers I only asked to experience more wisdom, more guidance, deeper peace. I wanted more clarity about why I was here, and what I could do to serve. Still, the feeling of overwhelm persisted. Breathing again deeply, I just stopped verbalizing and waited.  Finally, I found I could follow my breaths and relax a bit more. Sensing some kind of pressure growing inside, I remained with my breath. Then, I had a remembrance of an affirmation that I’d read a long time ago in a book by Florence Scovel Shinn.  Softly I mouthed the words…”I now release all of my burdens to the Christ within me, and I walk away unencumbered and free.”  Instantly I felt the presence of Love from within and without, filling me with a profound reassurance and acceptance.  I then sensed more than heard a quiet voice say “It’s okay to ask for what you need Isaac.”  A few tears escaped as I realized how much I am cared for by this profound and loving Presence.  I had to give up my defensive position and demands for guidance and wisdom before I could receive a larger blessing.   A few moments later the quiet voice reminded me to forgive myself for all of my perceptions of failures, mistakes or missed opportunties in my past.  This was a bit more difficult, but I eventually surrendered the judgments and regrets I’d been holding on to or felt shame about.  The rest of that morning was transformed by Grace into more energy, more enthusiasm, and a willingness to share more from my heart.  For a time, my worries, concerns and preoccupations were quieted.

Only a few days have elapsed since this gentle reminder, and already I am noticing how I am returning to some of most basic wisdoms and practices that I embraced in the years following my spiritual wake-up call in 1994. I’ve complicated my life in too many ways, especially in the spiritual sense. Just a few days before this epiphany happened, I had been with my chiropractor. I went seeking relief from a locked-up muscle underneath the right shoulder. What I ended up going through were some core issues around fear, anxiety, insecurities and grief that was the ulterior cause for the pain and constriction. My chiropractor is a multi-faceted guy, very intuitive and also an energy healer. The session revealed to me how much I am impacted by the world’s dramas, as well as the various electromagnetic and geopathic stresses the planet is undergoing.  This wasn’t news to me.

Ever since the years 1999-2000, I’ve been extremely sensitive to Solar storms, major astrological transits and geomagnetic activity, and I’ve also become very aware of tuning in to the emotional content of events before they happen.  I feel like a tuning fork, resonating to sounds I don’t hear physically.  Once, while I was staying at an eco-lodge on the slopes of Mt. Shasta in northern California I woke up in the middle of the night to discover I’d been crying in my sleep…and didn’t understand why. This happened at 3am both times. Two days later September 11th, 2001 happened.  Similar emotional-energetic episodes have preceded every major event since then, especially the ones caused by humans.  Prior to the bombings in Boston this past April 15th I also felt anxiety and deep cathartic grief and tension in my body from an unknown cause.  All of this only serves as a reminder to me that as we move more and more into universal awareness; it all becomes more personal as well.  My chiropractor kindly reminded me that there is an epidemic of fear, grief and anxiety rippling through the collective consciousness of humanity, and that no one is immune to this. He reminded me to balance my sensitivity with a solid set of practices and intentions that are simple and effective.  Taking walks and having sea salt baths, engaging in simple meditation and grounding or ‘earthing’. Good food, rest and staying open to my experience.  Cuddles…lots of cuddles and snuggles with humans and pets. Simple…so simple.

Others that I have interacted with, or from stories that filter through to me, are mirroring many of the same types of experiences.  Many people are responding to the stresses in different ways. Some can’t stand to be on a computer very long, or suddenly detest their cell phone.  It’s as if the chaotic emotions from all over the world are collected and amplified through the Internet and artificial electronic grid.  Ours mind don’t come equipped with firewalls, and we immersed into the morphogenetic field of consensus reality like never before in human history.  The internet is the ‘innernet’ of our minds and our physical neurological network externalized.  This is the basis of telepathy and human empathic awareness.  Some easy reminders for disengaging from our beloved gadgets is to take breaks from them, little and often, and do some stretches, spray yourself with an aromatherapy spray, get your feet out on to the lawn or in some sand.  Obtain some kind of EMF protection for your cell or mobile phone, laptop, WIFI router, etc. , and reduce or eliminate watching television network news and mainstream entertainment programming.  We are all responsible for our own energy and attitudes, but we are irresponsible when we think we have to attempt to do this all alone.

Have we become so suspicious of authentic surrender in the spiritual sense, that we have equated it as a giving away of power to an outside authority?  Only if we still are still hypnotized by our habituated belief of a Divinity that only resides ‘out there’ somewhere.   It is essential to remember that fear or mistrust cuts us off from others. There is a growing awareness of our inherent ‘oneness’. Therefore, we must act in that manner, and reach out to others – to give and receive mutual support, intimacy, closeness, sharing and encouragement.  When we are vulnerable and emotionally open with others, we feel ‘seen’ and we really see others with new eyes.  Instead of reinforcing our wounds and recycling our stories, our mutuality creates a ground of safety where we can touch each other in a space of sacred intimacy.

Therefore, allow for Life (God, Source, Spirit, Love) to provide for you.  Asking for what we need or desire is not a sign of weakness or disempowering.  It is the gateway to allowing the Universal Mind assist us in the highest way possible.

When we are able to surrender our strategies, our agendas, our fears and hopes to the Teacher within, then we enter into Grace. To become impatient is to be grasping. To open your hand in gratitude, and receive that which is freely given empowers us to give freely to others.  Life orders our journey again…doors can open, hearts can heal.  Trust is not easy in a world preoccupied with a desire for gain, and the fear of loss.  To trust in the highest within us is the beginning of joy and peace.  No matter what is going on in the world right now, you have a choice – control or surrender.  Choose wisely. Choose Life. Choose to let go into trust.

Much peace,

Isaac

The Shame Virus

free of shame

By Isaac George
April 14th, 2013

Since Easter weekend I have had an unexpected interest in investigating the sources and manifestations of one of the most debilitating of all human experiences – shame.  All such queries usually start for me when I spot some news article online, or catch some behavior in another human being. However, this time the trigger was a book I was impelled to pick up and reread.  The book in question is not important at the moment, but I will list the title and author’s name at the end of this blog. It was the power of how it agitated me to look deeply inside of myself which was quite amazing and cathartic.

There are many themes or ‘a-ha’s!’ cropping up within and around me these days, like the facts around heart-based awareness, and how a reawakened focus within the heart can reconnect us deeply into the Earth Consciousness and our Soul awareness, and through that portal we can access any point in ourselves and Creation.  As the author Niamh Clune stated in her book The Coming of the Feminine Christ’, “Only the awakened heart can avert the apocalypse.”

My personal revelations on this issue is the quality of personal courage (heart), and how it seems that most modern Western men are seemingly far removed from their warrior aspect.  This results in an epidemic increase in the opposite quality – unquestioning compliance with external authorities or structures.  When I mean ‘warrior’, I am not referring to soldiers or mercenaries.  I am instead referring to an aspect of the Divine Masculine, which possesses the attributes of one who courageously confronts injustice.  Part of this quality is includes the roles of protector and sustainer, as well as standing deeply within one’s own integrity in order to be fully responsible and responsive.  With all the emphasis on the return of the Divine Feminine, it is becoming increasingly important to recognize that a balance must be struck between the two genders as our species and the planet transition out of the old order, an order that survives through the use of shame, guilt and worse to maintain power.

For there to be an authentic return to innocence, men will have to reclaim their true maleness, and embrace courage with compassion, strength with sensitivity,  and protectiveness that doesn’t smother the feminine…but exalts it.  Action combined with vision and heart can avert the apocalypse.  Speaking truth to power that has been corrupted will not come from a monkish or emasculated consciousness.  As Osho wrote in “Courage: The Joy of Living Dangerously” we may be the last generations of humanity that is able to rebel.  The symbols of covert oppression are everywhere.  Take the simple necktie for instance, that symbol of the business world that has become the almost universally identified with the corporate uniform.  This simple piece of cloth is a symbol of slavery, or subjugation that has its origins in ancient times when conquering armies led captives back to their homelands. The iron or wood collar was the unmistakable brand of the slave, and was usually found at the end of a length of rope or chain. The shame of slavery, especially if the captive was a warrior, was a powerful and oppressive tool to keep the larger populations in line. The necktie simply says “we own you…don’t step out of line.”

The temptation of compliance is to relinquish self-autonomy, while being hypnotized into believing that you still have free choice.  When you comply, you allow others to decide for you, to be responsible for your choices and experience.  This is a conditioned pattern within the human psyche, and has lead to all manner of cruelty, violence, coercion, lack of empathy and compassion, and pure indifference to the suffering of others.  Courage never looks for the easy way out of something.  Compliance always ends up in the slippery slope to oblivion. “I was only following orders” has become the historical excuse for untold numbers of murders, massacres and injustice.

However, compliance is only one of the possible behaviors that arise from the deeper disease, which is shame.  When we feel shame, it is one of the lowest emotional and vibratory states we can know while in human embodiment.  Shame can be self-generated and self-directed, or arrive from outside of ourselves via parents, teachers, friends, political or military authorities.  At the top of the pyramid is the strongest source of shame, which originates from religions. However, religion only relates the possible causes for shame, and then violently reinforces it. “You were born into sin!” they crow, and with each repetition the nails are driven deeper into the hands and feet of the faithful.

Upon closer examination, each religion or ordered faith has its own version of the source of this condition, the reason we all need to blush and then grovel in the dirt. This sets up a process that is only to simple to spot in the known history of our species.  If you do not conform, you will be cast out, exiled, or made to feel as if you have no value and don’t even deserve to exist. The pain of this and its power to break the human heart is incalculable, and it was designed to be so.

I don’t feel that shame is a part of our natural persona.  Guilt is it’s sister, despair and despondence it’s cousins.  Shame runs through so much of the human personality disorder that it is difficult to detect most of the time.  The Book of Genesis in the Old Testament of the Christian Bible (which is also in the Jewish Talmud) may offer some clues. I haven’t read the opening verses of The Koran to see if it has parallels to these books, but as Islam is also a descendent of the Abrahamic monotheism, I’d be surprised if it didn’t.  I won’t reproduce the full text from Genesis, Chapter 3, but you can view it here.

Genesis, Chapter 3, verse 8:

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”

10. He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”

11. And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”

12. The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

13. Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”

The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

14. So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, “Cursed are you above all livestock  and all wild animals!  You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.”

In their book “Worldbridger”, Juliet and Jiva Carter describe the ‘Lord’ in this dialog as a genetic manipulator of alien origin, not the Source of Infinite Love and Grace that created us or the Earth.  They postulate that since almost 97% of our genetic code is dormant it must have been altered or spliced at some distant point in our past that we’ve forgotten…or was it deliberately hidden?  This take on the causes of shame goes a long way to explain the neurotic and schizophrenic tendencies in the human psyche.  Our genetic software may be comprised by an alien code that is rooted in fear, survival, domination and enslavement of others.  The best strategy in this case appears to be “give the slave race a complex surrounding its origins, and make the estrangement from it’s Divine Parentage seem to be real.” The curse at the end of Verse 14 is especially designed to evoke shame and guilt. After thousands of years of repetition and reinforcement, we have come to accept this insanity of a dual state of being as normal!  The genius of it is, we have also swallowed the lie, cleverly implied in religious interpretation, that our identity as sexual beings is what caused the Lord’s wrath.  This behavior is not representative of a loving Creator, but the ranting of a jealous and imperious overlord.  It is now a well-recognised scientific fact that there is at least 6% of the human population that is missing a part of their genetic code that makes it possible to feel empathy. Could this be a clue to our genetic and behavioral distortion?

Other studies seem to indicate that of this 6%, most tend to gravitate towards attaining positions of power and authority in ruthless and subversive ways, while projecting an outward persona of normal, rational human behavior. This may be the face of the pyschopath that is ensconced in the 1% who are in running the planet. By relating this information I am not implying that everyone in positions of power in politics, business or religion are psychopaths. However, all one has to do is to observe the fruits of their actions when compared to their words and projected image to understand who is who. Since this branch of neuroscience is in its infancy, I would not necessarily preach it as gospel just yet.

Shame, and the conformity and false humility that it engenders, may be one of the most important issues that we will have to deal with.  Some might argue that shame is a necessary check that informs us when we have committed an offense against another.  When we realize that we have done something that has harmed someone else, and we have even an ounce of empathy, we know that our words or actions have caused hurt or misunderstanding.  In the movie “K-PAX” starring Kevin Spacey, the main character Prot said, “everyone in the Universe knows the difference between right and wrong.”

What is implied here is that we all know when we’ve crossed the line, and our internal nature informs us that we need to correct ourselves and utilize forgiveness as a tool to dissolve wounds between us and others.  Regret for one’s unkind actions can open the heart and begin the healing process.  When there is no healing process, or misunderstandings healed, then shame can turn into melancholy, rapidly followed by self-loathing and, in extreme cases, self-destruction.  Sometimes people who have had terrible injustices happen to them, like rape or imprisonment and torture for their ethnicity, religion, gender, or political beliefs, can feel that somehow there must be something basically wrong with them to have had such experiences.  Too often suicide seems to be the only way out of the pain of shame.

Recently, some societies have resorted to publicly naming and shaming individuals, like child molesters, hoping that this will correct unacceptable behaviors. Statistically, it does nothing to discourage other predators, and all that is accomplished is that a perpetrator is now turned into another victim, usually for the second time in their life. This is shame used as a weapon, with ‘good’ people standing in as the ultimate judge, jury and executioner. The person who was violated and also the person who committed the violation can only be healed through love, not be driving the traumas of both deeper into their psyches.

When a computer is infected with a virus, we employ a specialist or install a specially-designed program that hunts down and quarantines the troublesome bug, and then delete it later. When a human body contracts a virus, we ride it out while attempting to make our biology an inhospitable environment for the virus to exist in.  We can eat chicken soup, or take vitamin C and other folk or traditional remedies to combat the invader that makes us feel so rotten.  What do you do to remove a psychic and subconscious virus?  Sometimes, the diagnosis is tricky, but the solutions can sometimes be quite simple.  In the case of shame, however, it takes a bit more than what is typically offered through psychological methods, or with energy healing.

The realm of quantum mechanics can go quite deeply into how things work with consciousness and matter, but so far has been unable to explain the why  of how it all works.  Since there is a unified field, and since DNA is the common denominator within our biological makeup, then there very well may be a ‘virtual’ DNA as well, that exists in our subtle bodies and transcends any genetic damage done either through mutations from natural causes, or from deliberate manipulation. Accessing and reactivating our multidimensional codes may simply be down to the right combination of light, geometry and sound.  The increasing interest in sound healing, especially non-specific forms like improvisational music created through toning and the use of crystal or metal singing bowls, can invoke specific resonances that help us remember our true natures beyond language. Music is a bridge between the Cosmos and the Earth, and the shamans have known it for millennia.  Likewise there is a growing interest in sacred geometry, both as an art form and also as a map of creation and consciousness.  Grounding into the Earth is also a route to re-orienting our biological electro-magnetic resonance.

Solutions:

The shame virus can be temporarily negated through the power of deliberate language. Affirmations consciously directed are quite powerful in a variety of situations.  It is important to recognize that the power of the spoken word also may awaken the subconscious conditioned pattern of ‘not good enough’.  Simply saying ‘I deserve this or that…’ may evoke a counter-response of through the ‘voice in my head’ of “No, you don’t.”  This can set up an inner conflict that has no clear winner.  Affirmations alone are usually not very effective in the long run.

Here are a few suggestions  to identify, reduce, and in some cases eliminate, the ‘shame virus’ –

Shadow Work:
This is a very broad topic with many paths and systems.  Shamanic traditions are much stronger in this regard, and perhaps explains the increasing interest in plant pharmacology and indigenous ceremonial methods to release false personas, embrace and integrate shadow aspects, and recall projections of the psyche, otherwise known as ‘soul retrieval.’  One excellent book on the subject is “Embrace of the Daimon” by Sandra Lee Dennis.

Creative Anger:
I’ve just begun to explore this as a method for getting in touch with those parts of ourselves that we consider to be unacceptable, and how and why we judge those parts so.  Try thinking back to when someone said ‘shame on you’ for touching yourself (and enjoying it), or for doing what you wanted to do with your life, rather than pleasing someone else.  If you decide to dump the shame stigma you’ve ‘eaten’ and made a part of yourself, then you might feel pretty angry.  This requires creative approaches, but punching a pillow while screaming, or using a plastic baseball bat on a dead tree stump might just be your cup of tea. Gestalt therapy and primal screaming might be something to explore. Drumming circles?

Improvisational Dance:
Dancing is one way to move and express trapped energy.  Explore experimental dance styles, like 5 Rhythms Dance by Gabriele Roth.

Breathwork:
Loads of choices here.  Deep breathing will usually bring up many repressed feelings. Choose from Holotropic, Shamanic, or yogic techniques like the Cobra or Fire Breath. Please do these with proper supervision and support.

Earthing:
Connecting your biological self to the earth, to Gaia, is a revolutionary act against the technologically-based dominator culture. Get your feet onto wet grassy or sandy soil. Walk barefoot on the beach. Get an Earthing pad or wristband, so you can remain connected to the natural magnetic and telluric earth envelope while working on computers.  Investigate and acquire some simple protection for shielding your body from cell phones, mobile and digital phones, WIFI, computers and routers and microwave stations.  Click here for more information on Earthing, and here for information on Earthing devices.  To learn more about effective protection against electrosmog and EMF radiation, please email me at archariel@hotmail.com, as I am still in the process of setting up the products on the Store page at www.isaacgeorge.com.

One thing that I strongly recommend is to drop all perceptions of the experience of shame, or any other negative emotional state, as being part of another body or psychic state, thereby placing it outside of yourself.  Even though shame is a form of false humility, and is by its very nature an illusion that is incompatible with your true and original innocence, it is not something you are carting around like a piece of luggage that you are trying to get rid of.  In order to take full responsibility for your being, and your experience, it will be more helpful to abandon the notions of separateness and cultivate wholeness in yourself.  Cultivating sovereignty is an on-going process and discipline, not a switch that the Universe flips on or off for you.  Allowing yourself to take risks with the full knowledge that you will also make mistakes removes a tremendous amount of self-induced pressure on you to be perfect so that you can avoid the experience of shame.

Which brings this sharing to the ultimate shame bubble…the programmed belief in almost all human beings that we wouldn’t be here, would not be ‘trapped’ in matter and physicality, if we had only behaved right and not upset God, Creator, or whomever.  In spite of all the spiritual books and workshops that illumine us to the possibility that Source Consciousness is benevolent and has created infinite beings out of Itself in order to experience Itself, the power of the old lie to occasionally set us back into the old fears and subconscious language of ‘just not good enough’, or ‘there isn’t enough…love, light, abundance, or Life ‘ is still there in the human condition.  We no longer have to kneel in shame any longer. We are children of the Benevolent Heart of Creation, and innocence is our natural state of consciousness. Love is who you are. There is only one Love, one Truth, and it is your Love, your Truth.

When you extend your love, your truth to others, and employ forgiveness and understanding, their shame is converted into healing, and even the blind will be able to see again, and the lame will rise up and walk.

When we stand up from the impulse of love and take action on the behalf of a better world, we truly announce who we are without shame. We return to our authenticity, and we are sane again.
